Research parts pairing before you buy anything. Sites like iFixit and community forums specific to your device model are your best intelligence sources. Know ahead of time whether the component you need is serialized — and whether that serialization will affect functionality you care about.
Third-party parts aren't automatically bad. The quality gap between OEM and aftermarket has narrowed considerably for common repairs like screens and batteries. For something like a camera module or a biometric sensor, the calculus changes — stick closer to genuine components if those features matter to you.
